Journey and Time Cards09 May 2013 | By Marilyn in Uncategorized
Good morning everyone. Well, my baby boy is turning 18 and graduating all within the span of a week. So, instead of going out and buying pre-made cards to celebrate these two momentous occasions, I decided to make them myself. After all, I am a designer!
First, his graduation card. I look at life as a journey, something you should enjoy, so this card reflects that. He starts college in the fall and what a journey that will be!
I used Basically Bare Retro Arrows, Tim Holtz stamps, and washi tape.
I took one of the squiggly Retro Arrows, painted it with Art Anthology Black Leather Jacket Sorbet, and when that was dry, went back over it with Art Anthology Splashed Sorbet. I LOVE sparkle! The stamped vehicles were highlighted using a Tim Holtz Picket Fence Marker.
I then took one of the larger straight Retro Arrows and painted it with Art Anthology Jungle Green Sorbet.
For his birthday card, I found a sentiment in my stamps that really expresses what I feel when I think “my gosh, he’s going to be 18″. Where has the time gone?
For this card, I used another Tim Holtz stamp, but inked up just enough of it to fit inside my Basically Bare Film Strip from the Just Chippy Paparazzi set. I then embossed it with kaleidoscope embossing powder for sparkle. I stamped the clock inside the film strip while I held it in place so it would be centered.
I painted the Basically Bare Film Strip with Art Anthology Black Leather Jacket Sorbet and then with Splashed Sorbet. My son is really going to get some sparkly cards.
